Classic Chocolate Chip
Ingredients & Instructions
🌿Step 1
In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer combine the following :
1 cup soft room temperature unsalted butter (do not melt the butter)
3/4 cup light brown sugar packed
3/4 cup white sugar
* Mix on low/med until combined. If you are using a stand mixer be sure to stop the mixer after a minute or two to scrape down the sides with a rubber spatula.
🌿Step 2
Add 2 eggs and 1 tsp of vanilla extract to your mixing bowl. Mix until combined.
🌿 Step 3
In a separate bowl combine the following:
2.5 cups of all purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
*Lightly mix to combine, then add a little bit at a time to your wet ingredients. Mix until fully combined.
🌿 Step 4
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
Line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
And set up your stackable cooling racks
With a wooden spoon, mix in 2 cups of chocolate chips. I prefer semi-sweet, but you can use whatever you’d like, milk chocolate is great too !
I like to add in chopped walnuts occasionally as well. You can be spontaneous with this recipe, add a little flair and make it the signature treat that everyone looks for at the party.
🌿 Step 5
I use a cookie scoop to make my cookies all the same size, save a little time, and keep my hands clean. If you don’t have one you can hand roll them into 1 inch balls.
Place cookies about 2 inches apart and bake for 9-12 minutes.
💡 Pro Tip : let your cookies rest on the cookie sheet for a minute before transferring to your cooling rack. This will help keep them from breaking.
Baking from scratch will save you money in the long run. Once you have your staple baking ingredients on hand, you can bake several items for a fraction of what you pay in the grocery store. Keep your pantry stocked with these basics to start… flour, sugar, vanilla extract, baking soda, light brown sugar, chocolate chips, and walnuts.
There is nothing better than a warm baked cookie fresh out of the oven ! For a special treat I add a little scoop of vanilla ice cream to my cookie and wait for it to melt just a bit.
