Hi, I’m Ivy – the home cook, budget stretcher, and everyday problem-solver behind Hey Ivy. I grew up learning how to make the most out what little we had available, and those early experiences shaped the way I cook and live today. Creativity was a necessity, and over time it became a strength I leaned on as a young mom, a military spouse, and later as a single parent learning to navigate life on my own terms.
Those skills – stretching ingredients, finding shortcuts, creating dinners on the fly, and making the best out of a tight budget – became the backbone of the way I cook now. They are the heart of this blog, and much of my inspiration comes from wanting to help others.

🌻Why I Started This Blog
I know what it feels like when money is tight and you’re worried about how you are going to feed your family every night. Standing in the kitchen looking at what little you have, feeling overwhelmed and desperately waiting for the next paycheck. I’ve been there; I’ve lived through those seasons and fortunately made it through. My children are adults now and they’re just learning how to budget and live on their own in a much more straining economic climate. After a recent call from my son, I felt inspired to share this knowledge I’ve learned with others, he was feeling hopeless and I could relate to what he was feeling. My goal is to help you feed yourself and your family with confidence, creativity, and comfort – even when life feels chaotic.
✨A little More About Me
I love cozy meals that feel like home
I am obsessed with budget challenges
There is nothing better than a cozy home, and that is what you make of it. You don’t need lavish materials to get there. A cozy throw blanket, warm soft clothes, a candle with your favorite scent, a good book, binge worthy series, and great cup of coffee…or wine 🫶🏼
My kitchen is always stocked with ingredients that do double-duty
I firmly believe that good meals don’t have to be expensive. Some of the meals I’m most proud of were deliciously created with very limited ingredients on hand.
I believe that meals can create memories
