Recipe Overview
- Prep Time: 5-10 minutes
- Cook Time: 5 minutes
- Total Time: 15 minutes
- Servings: 4 (1/4 cup)
What You’ll Need
- Measuring spoons
- Blender
Ingredients
1½ cups chickpeas rinsed and drained
â…“ cup tahini
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 clove garlic
½ teaspoon salt (I use pink Himalayan)
5 tablespoons water (maybe a bit more if needed to blend)
Paprika, and/or fresh parsley, for garnish. If you wanted to get a little fancy you can roast some pine nuts to use as a topping.
Instructions
1. Add all ingredients to a blender, *except for your garnish
2. Blend until smooth and creamy, if you need to add a little more water add 1 tsp. at a time
3.Garnish as you wish, store in the refrigerator.
Serve with
- Pita chips
- veggies
- Naan bread or pita bread warmed.
💡Pro Tip: Soak your chickpeas in cold or room- temp water and gently remove the clear outer layer (skin). This makes a huge difference in the texture of your finished product. When you strip the outer layer, it creates a much creamier hummus.
Topping Suggestions
- Roasted pine nuts
- Feta cheese with a drizzle of lemon
- Chopped roasted red peppers (this is also a great addition to your blender for added flavor)
